It all started with a swipe. Daniela downloaded Tinder just for laughs one random December day in 2019 and within four weeks, the app had already done its job. When Melchior’s profile popped up, she recognized him instantly because his sister had been in Daniela’s class for years growing up. They both swiped right and Melchior broke the ice with the timeless line: “Hey you <3.” Daniela’s sarcastic reply? “Is that heart really necessary?” Somehow, instead of running for the hills, Melchior found her wit intriguing — and the rest is history.

Their first date came just after the New Year, at Londoner’s British Pub on January 4th, 2020. What was supposed to be a casual drink turned into nearly seven hours of effortless conversation — the kind where time disappears and you look up to realize it’s 4 a.m. By the end of the night, it was clear: this wasn’t just a match, it was the beginning of something real.

Since then, they’ve travelled to 11 destinations, supported each other through career changes, investments, unexpected surgeries and Daniela’s 4.5-year psychotherapy master’s journey. Along the way, they discovered their complementary quirks: Melchior, the tech fanatic and competitive go-getter with big ideas, and Daniela, the empathetic, genuine soul with patience to match (although Melchior deserves a medal for enduring her complicated food cravings). Make no mistake though, they’re both headstrong and opinionated but open communication always helps them find common ground. They share a secret silly side, a million inside jokes, and pet names like “orange” and “flipper” that no one else could ever understand.

Fast forward to December 2023 in New York: under Manhattan Bridge at golden hour, Melchior got down on one knee with a ring he’d nervously smuggled through airport security. Daniela said yes, and here we are — ready to celebrate with all of you!
